AICPA Launches New Financial Planning Certificates Program

An accounting professional with a master's from Marquette University, Logan Sathasivam serves as a manager of accounting operations at CUNA Mutual Group in Madison, Wisconsin. Beyond his day-to-day professional activities, Logan Sathasivam maintains membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

A professional association comprising more than 650,000 members, AICPA provides a variety of programs and resources to help CPAs improve their knowledge and skills. In a June 2018 press release, the organization announced the launch of a new certificates program in personal financial planning.

Designed for CPAs interested in enhancing their financial planning expertise, the Personal Financial Planning (PFP) Certificates Program offers four technical certificates in the core PFP areas of retirement, estate, risk management/insurance, and investment planning. The program also includes a fifth certificate focused on the application of the financial planning process.

In addition to helping CPAs improve their skill set, the PFP Certificates Program offers a new pathway to the AICPA Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential, which gives CPAs the ability to demonstrate their personal financial planning experience and expertise. More information about the PFP Certificates Program and the PFS credential is available at www.aicpa.org.
